ABOUT US
Jane & Greg Platt
Our journey started in High School. We met when Jane was a Sophomore and Greg was a Junior. We knew early on we would travel through lives adventures together. We got married 1 year after Jane finished high school and Greg completed his 2 year degree. 3 years after we were married our first child was born. followed by 3 more. we’ve always loved our animals and always rescued them.
In 2015 our youngest child Alexander (Alex) passed away after a long battle with addiction. We struggled to figure out what we could do to help and support people needing help and support. We realized we live on this beautiful property. Already have a barn and Paddock. We contemplated what we could create using our property. We know people in recovery can’t have a pet until a few years into the recovery process. Plus we were always being approached to take a unwanted animal. So the dream came alive.
We will rescue animals but keep them for the remainder of their natural lives. Then offer animal therapy for people in recovery, anxieties, PTSD and more. Animals are so loving and comforting. So Angels Wings and Hooves Inc. was born. With Zander’s Beat being the Therapy portion in memory of our son.

BEAR
Bear we got at the age of 4 months. Now at 2.5 years he has grown until an amazing guardian dog as well as our devoted friend and caregiver. He is super serious about his job. He protects our alpacas, sheep, goats, miniature horses. pigs and various poultry. He also watches the sky in case any arial predators decide to fly in.
Next is Baloo….He is the baby of the group. He turned 2 in August 2024 but is still a crazy silly pup and far to immature to be left alone with the other critter's without human supervision. He forgets he’s not a herding dog and not supposed to play with the chickens. We got Baloo from the same farm in Georgia that Bear came from. He was 10 weeks old when we picked him up.
When we arrived to get him we were asked if we wanted to take beautiful 2 1/2 year old Miss Maizy . She has the ability to melt you with her eyes. Maizy is a proven guardian dog but small for the breed at 71 lbs. So she was unable to be bred safely. Which sadly the way it works in that business. (Which is Not our thinking) So we loaded up a 10 week old Baloo and beautiful Miss Maizy for the 12 + hour ride back to New Jersey. Having Maizy join our farm family was such a gift as she teaches the younger ones how to do their jobs. An example being, when Baloo chases down a chicken to catch, Maizy will go after him leaning on his back end and stopping him. Amazing to watch.

Have to stand on my soap box now!
My Pet Peeve, Not just for dogs but every animal! Research and know what your getting into.
All I can say is please research your breed before you adopt/buy.
Great Pyrenees are big dogs and grow until around 3 years old. They shed all year long. They are also nocturnal and sleep during the day to prepare to work all night long. They bark a lot especially when they are younger. If they bark at something they hear. We might not hear it but they do. It could be a butterfly farting 3 blocks away, but they heard it. They are extremely smart, loving and devoted family members. The breed amazes me daily and I’m so sorry we waited so late in life to discover them. They have stolen our hearts. As well as protected our farm with zero loss from predators.
Same week Maizy and Baloo arrived we rescued 3 year old Benji. He and his owner were about to be evicted AGAIN due to Benji’s excessive barking. He was raised in a condo so farm life was a new and exciting adventure for him.
Benji always gets excited to see us and always greets us with a huge smile and wagging tail. Since he was raised a house dog so the guardian side has been slow to come out but that’s fine with us. He hated the rain and would much rather be inside the house to chill with us.
This is our youngest son Alex. We started our nonprofit in his memory. Alex died at age 24 after a long battle with addiction. Beside his love of animals, which he himself had rescued a few. He was a very gifted Drummer (self taught). He wrote music and sang as well.. That as when the idea of rescuing animals and in turn offering Animal therapy . Seemed to be to honor his memory and give to others.
Zander is the nickname his siblings gave him. So “Zander’s Beat” seemed like the perfect name for the Therapy portion of our program.
